Safest way to store my collection?

I’ve been wanting to really start building my collection, but I’m so paranoid of something happening. Like a random Google Photos employee will decide to spend their afternoon browsing my collection of animal porn videos. Obviously I'm not going to use Google Photos, but data leaks are absolutely a possibility. I already know the answer is my hard drive, but I only have an old shitty laptop with not much storage on it. I’m not as tech-savvy as I used to be, so is there a preferred way to store your collection? Like an SD card or USB?

it's end to end encrypted and even if they wanted to look they can't. the key only exists when you log in

also be sure to use a vpn. proton has one to go along with its email service. free. proton vpn and protonmail are super
 
You could use VeraCrypt and get an external drive or something. I don't use the usual settings for encryption, like AES, I use the other selections along with a strong password.
I can't remember where I found this, but there was a PDF I found that was detailing how well certain encryption methods were. Like if you were using Bitlocker, something from VeraCrypt, etc. Some I found if you clone a hard drive that was using whatever program to encrypt it, it basically broke that encryption in some form. May be not 100%, but it was an interesting read. It was over 20 or more pages.

Can't you buy an external hard-drive? Or if you have some old hard-drive laying around, you can buy a USB case for it. Since you have an old laptop, maybe you can buy an SSD to make it faster, and use the old hard-drive with a USB case as external.

Once you got that, you can encrypt it with VeraCrypt, and opening with a password everytime you plug it in. You can hide it for extra protection :gsd_laughing:

Oh, you know what, I actually do have an old hard drive. Not sure where I put it but it's definitely around here somewhere. Sounds like a plan, thank you for the help!
 
Also, I think I'm going to try to start using the Tor Browser. I'm extremely new to it, so is it better to connect to my VPN first and then connect to Tor rather than just using Tor on its own? And then obviously practicing basic safe browsing techniques once I'm in. And should I be using something like Tails OS to access it? I'm paranoid but I'm also stupid so I don't know if all of this is worth the effort LOL.

That's seems like too much :husky_laughing:
I use a VPN alone. I used Tor before (alone), and it was intolerable slow, ok for reading and writing, but it took ages for pics and videos were impossible. Now with the VPN is way faster, at least close to my internet connection limits.

And I just use Windows, but zoo porn, or even zoo, is not illegal in my country, so I just want to avoid my ISP (and the owner of the connection if I'm somewhere else) knowing what pages do I look at.

Yeah, I tried Tor last night and it is ABSURDLY slow. I understand why it is, but it's not even worth the effort... Which VPN do you use/can recommend? I've been using ProtonVPN because I trust Proton, but if there's a better one out there I'd be open to switching.

Personally I've been using Mullvad vpn and it's been great so far. It cost around 5 dollars, I think.

VeraCrypt volume on a separate USB or just drive

And use a VPN

Tor is probably not necessary unless you are super paranoid

Definitely do not keep it on something like google drive, I am sure they have automated systems for detecting this kind of content, probably just to delete but you never know
