Raising partners?

This might be a thread already so forgive me. Does anyone else have very little attraction to the pups they’ve raised? I’ve always noticed my attraction is to animals I personally haven’t reared.
 
Same reason incest is "wrong". It's not a matter of genetics, though that's why it's a bad idea, but we are biologically conditioned to not be attracted to those spent significant time growing and living with. When you raise an animal it's biologically speaking the same as raising a child.
 
It might be situational. I know I raised my German Shepard from a little pup…and to be honest I think that contributed to our bond. I was with him from the beginning (almost) and with the Covid he was my constant companion.

Although I am not sure I ‘imprinted’ on him, I know he did on me…lol

Yea I can totally see how it can be situational for sure! I used to raise my dogs back when I was on my farm and idk why I guess they were different or an exception but I know the ones I have now I share no attraction for.
 
Nope, I don't have a problem with it and never have. Raised both my 27 and 8 year old equine companions from birth, I know that I'm not the sire of either of them.
 
For sure. Everyone is different. For me, the bond with my dog grew as I raised him from a puppy and as he got older and started to exhibit sexual behaviors towards me. I suppose he was not confused that I was related lol
 
Same. I had always thought I would be likely to become sexual with my dog if i ever did get one. Then, my former housemate and I ended up with three dogs that we ended up raising from tiny pups and i couldn't imagine being sexual with any of them. I thought about this disconnect and wondered if after all this time this was just something that i fetishized and enjoyed watching other people participate in and fantasizing about. I came to the realization that it is very much just because they are like my children and i would still absolutely suck off a dog that i did not have that same connection to if i was attracted and the opportunity presented itself. Obviously everyone's mileage will vary depending on individual circumstances, but I appreciate this topic as it is something i had been considering for a bit!
