Why is it that so many people fail to put any information at all about themselves on their profiles? Of course I do understand that fear of getting caught might be a factor. But if whoever you're hiding this side of you from gets to the site, do you really think the profile you post is what will tip the scale?
I just find it annoying that when I go to look at the profile of someone who has responded, replied or made a comment to me, 90% of the time its blank.
I'm making a new rule for myself: no info. on the profile, no response from me.

I am a woman and feel it isn't asking too much for some very basic info. (Sex, age range, general location and what your interests are here). I understand that everyone has their own comfort zone, I get it. But to play twenty questions with almost every single person can be tiresome.
Am I being way off on this?
 
I can totally agree with that ??

People doesn't need to write stories about them self in the profile... But at least the could write some basic informations about them self - age, sex, country ?

Why? How does knowing or not knowing those things affect your ability to respond to a discussion?

I've been an active member of the sofurry forum for years and I can't tell you the exact age or location of any of the other regulars I've been interacting with all that time.

It's a forum, an online place to discuss topics within or outside a pre-established umbrella, not a dating site. A/S/L is not requisite knowledge to have in order to participate in online discourse.

Nah, but in all seriousness I have some basic information about who I am and my current situation. As well as my age. But besides that, I feel no obligation to share my location on here nor any other potentially identifying Information. My goal is to be as anonymous as possible for my and my canine girls safety.

I also prefer it when I can read someone's profile and get an idea of who they are before engaging in conversation. Like you said, it saves time playing 20 questions with everyone.
 
It doesn't matter so much for "forum discussion participation." It certainly matters for PMs.
It isn't too much to ask for that person to at least state in their profile their gender and sexual preference. Their age
doesn't matter to me, and the country they're in isn't important, though it is interesting.
 
Less information is better. Any info can be weaponized towards said person.

Do i hear the cops knocking due to some random person happen to be law enforcement? Gee i wonder how that happened.

This is why gender in profile info is a bad idea at least for women.
 
i don't really see why that matters... as someone else already stated, this is not a hook up site, don't treat it as such
