problem -- alerts not happening for threads i'm watching

is there a techie among staff who can figure out why this is happening and fix it? i discovered today that there are several threads that i'm clearly watching, but i haven't gotten alerts from the threads in a very long time. is there some sort of limit to the number of threads one can follow? and it's pushing out the oldest ones as if from a queue?

I have noticed this, but I think I figured it out. If you ignore just one single notification, it will never notify you again on that thread unless you just happen to load the thread and the notification system marks it as you finally went to that thread.

I noticed that part too if you ignore a notification, but yesterday I would visit a thread and make a post and when someone would post after me I wouldn't get the notification. Even if I was just in the thread minutes earlier. It didn't happen every time or on a specific thread. It would switch which ones I didn't get a notification for. Today I believe I only noted the problem once.

It could be possible that they posted while you where still on the thread so when you changed pages it had already marked it as read. For instance, I did make sure that immediately after making my last post I went to other pages and did get a notification that someone posted and or quoted me.

I thought about that being the possible cause. About the only thing I could think of without asking. If I notice it happen again I'll be sure to look at post times to rule out if it's another post coming through while I'm still viewing the thread.

The system should notify you that there are new responses to the thread while you are viewing it, however I question how accurate or how quick the system is in figuring that out and posting the notification.

I know, I have seen it and a good example of it in action is in the DWTM's thread. When we're all posting as fast as possible in there the new notification usually pops up pretty fast. In seconds even. Pretty consistent in timing too, on that thread anyway. We can usually move pretty fast in there. But, if maybe multiple threads fire the notification at the same exact time or multiple times for the same thread maybe it messes with accuracy? Not sure, out of my wheelhouse honestly.
