Possession of bestiality now a felony???

Apparently in the state of florida, possessing pornography involving sexual acts with animals is now a third degree felony and more states are soon to follow....wow. (For those of you not familiar with the USA justice system, a third degree felony is punishable by up to 5 years in prison, per count.) Additionally, anyone caught with it will be banned from owning animals or working with animals. Florida legislature basically said there's a link between bestiality and child abuse and that's why they passed the law making bestial porn illegal. Wtf....

So you're saying that the party of personal freedoms is actively passing laws prohibiting people from having any personal freedom? Who could have imagined the hypocrisy?

All it takes is the stroke of a pen. Or one balless judge to not uphold your rights. Do you know how many news articles there are on this and no one gets outraged?
But FB goes down and there's a worldwide riot........

You're right, it's the culture of life in the deep south. The lawmakers are a bunch of holier than thou christians in the heart of the geographic "bible belt" and religion is ultimately at the root of this situation. Being from the south myself I can personally attest to this. What these wonderful lawmakers fail to realize is that the overwhelming majority of child abuse cases come from close relatives.... Not bestiality.

Doesn't really work, they have to have been involved somehow in obtaining it. This is why, back when the US Postal Inspectors kept trying to entrap people by sending them catalogs for ordering child porn, they had to wait until someone actually ordered some of it before arresting them.

The animal rights activists who push this stuff are mostly Dems. The religious wackos are mostly Republicans, but they're mostly focused on banning abortion.

It's also an issue of zoos not defending their rights. There are posts about one tightening of the law after the other in the US and no incentive to stop this. At least it appears so here at Zooville. Maybe some of you guys actually do something offsite about it and prefer not speak about it here.

Yes, I did in my country. By the way, I don't like the term “zoo rights” either. As said somewhere else, make sure that this is something anyone could get behind and not about giving cookies to an unpopular minority. It isn't necessary to out oneself as zoo when complaining about a bad draft for a law that happens to target zoos then.

To clarify further, getting involved surely isn't for everyone. There's a bunch of reasons not to.
But no one? That would be a little sad.

Acceptance is never going to happen. Anyone who thinks it will is delusional. The only people who are okay with zoos and bestiality, are zoos and people who practice bestiality. The general public would be totally fine having everybody who shares this interest murdered or locked away for the rest of their lives. I’ve seen these “movements“ over and over throughout the years, and not a single one has ever been successful. People who think that bestiality is ever going to be accepted as a mainstream thing, need to get their heads out of the pro-zoo echo chambers. Outside of places such as this we are not tolerated. It’s a massive risk to put oneself out there for a cause that is deeply unpopular with the majority of society, and will never gain positive traction.

That "whooshing" sound you just heard was the thinly-veiled sarcasm in my comment sailing vigorously over your head.

Of course I know all these things. I live near the buckle of the "bible belt". It isn't about "rights" or anything else other than power.
