He's very pretty. When I was "researching" suitable images, I wanted to share him with you.
and glad you did?. Birds like that one always make me wonder just what the world was like when they began. The Dinos didn't disappear....they took to the skies. We tend to think of that world as very green, but of the creatures in it as very grey....

Our avian buddies make that seem impossible.
I can id most North American Birds, some by flight pattern, some by call, some by coloration, or behavior and I hsve some fun with calling thrm in in the spring. Cardinals get very confused when they cant find the adversary or possible mrs....and our mockingbird is fun because they make it a game.

Birds from other areas, I usually look up, because its fast, but also a source of new lore. ?

A common Blue Jay....theses guys are related to crows and magpies....they eat Holly berries which would kill a lot of critters. When nesting, mamma holds so still when spotted that you can pick her up off the nest, count the eggs or chicks, and put her back on it. She's almost in a hypnotic state. As soon as shes back where she belongs, she gets animated, will fly off a few yards, then right back into the nest she goes.
