Saddles like this have a removable "Mochilla' ....The Pony Express used them....a rider could swap his tired horse for a fresh mount, and swap the mochilla to the newly saddled bronc. He'd be on his way in well under a minute, if there was no mail to be picked up or dropped at that station. Note the pouches bear locks to prevent tampering.

This post is partly correct, airplanes could carry heavy loads (I would add very large ones too), but airplane design evolved in another direction. I don't know Bohn, still exist? Thanks for sharing!!!
Bohn was a metals mfr.

Apparently, youve never seen Northrop's "Flying Wing"....The original bomber designated B- 35 was cancelled, as well as the later YB 49, due to material fatigue and to Politics.

It seems the then-USAF Secretary wanted in, and pressured Jack Northrop to merge with Convair Aircraft. When Northrop refused, Contracts disappeared. The Material problems, to my personal knowledge, could have been worked out; that aircraft flew! But Jets were coming in. Northrop produced the F89 Scorpion from 1948....A perfect example of Technology Marching in leaps not steps....YB49-2_300.jpg
