The castle’s history dates back to the 12th century when it served as a fortress to protect the strategic road between Italy and Germany. When I look it up - the castle overlooking Hohenschwangau is named Neuschwanstein and is built in the 19. century. It is said that it inspired Walt Disney to the castle in the movie Cinderella.
