Just so you know: 18 000 000 horses served during the First World War. Dogs and untold numbers of pigeons served in both wars. Dogs have been going to war, and continue to do so.

You never think about all the animals who were sacrificed aswell.

This is The Peace Cross, dedicated in 1925, to memorialize 49 local Veterans of the World War, in Bladensburg, Md. As years have passed, it has come to represent Veterans of other Wars, and even engendered a bit of war itself over a perceived "Establishment" issue. The Cross is safe at this point, fortunately.
