Picking a large breed dog and living the life with my accepting Husband

Rocthorne

Hello all! I am curious as to which large breed dogs are on the calmer side and are lower energy...I ask because my husband finally knows of my Zoo life style and with that I'd eventually like to get a canine companion for us (preferably 2 if we can) the problem is though I'm not sure which breed would work for our life style. We aren't super super active and are generally home bodies but we do hike religiously so we are relatively active. Just not to the point in going for daily runs. So my question is what breed/breeds are generally calmer and lower energy. I was thinking of maybe Danes? But I'm open to suggestions and discussions. Another thing I'm interested in knowing.....since I will be the one engaging in sexual activities with them is there a chance they will form a protective bond with me that would lead to them being aggressive with my husband? Like is there a chance they could see him as competition and become aggressive with him? And if so how could I avoid that? Maybe have him be the one who always goes first to establish a pecking order so to speak?

Danes are very protective of their person

Danes are a good choice. Giant breed dogs are lower energy. Danes have an athletic build and short fur which gives a bit more heat tolerance for hiking.
I'm very much a fan of Danes, they are normally such goofballs when they get energetic.
