Partner or Mate

I considered my first four legged companion as partner. I am lucky to have been able to share a life with him. Since he has died I have often thought that it would have been better if my life would have ended with his.

There is a dog lying besides me again – he just scratched himself and is surely anticipating our impending evening walk. But he isn't a partner like my first companion was.

I tend to love dogs how one would love a human, but we can't choose whom we fall in love with.

to be brutally honest, i'd say anyone who views them just as "an animal i have sex with" is not much of a zoo. likely a bit controversial opinion around here... to me, being a zoo transcends just physical attraction or "i'm doing animals because it's taboo/degrading/whatever". i do view them as my partners, because why wouldn't i? hetero/homosexuals also view their partners as partners, no?
 
I love my girl, she is my world. I consider her my partner, mate, and wife. She deserves all of the best titles. I don't really get the folks who don't persue that type of a relationship with critters versus just having sex, they're missing out on a ton of love.
 
I would have to agree. To me my girl she is my world, my mate, my partner. I am exclusive to her, my love for her is as real as any other would have for their spouse
