Other Zoo Friends

I have a few "zoo friends", but only because they're all really open minded. And we all communicated over the Internet two or three years before we met irl.

Lol, he's kinda not wrong, actually...

Obviously, online is a 'safer' space, but I've met plenty of zoos (and some of my best friends) at cons and other RL events -completely- outta nowhere... I legit do have pretty good 'zoodar' though =p of course, this was several years ago back when nobody really gave too much of a shit about what anyone else did XD

But basic proper RL etiquette kinda says that you don't talk about 'porn stuff' with strangers unless it's, like, already out there for some reason (you're in the dealer's den and commenting on a pic, you're at a room party and the convo is going that way, whatever.. (like, you don't just bring up dog dick, or any dick for that matter, just completely out of the blue)... So, by naturally navigating the conversation, you can learn a lot about people by listening and asking some innocent but targeted questions (if you can). A lot of zoos actually tend to out themselves, albeit through a kind of 'code' or signals that only other zoos pick up on -- usually because -most- other zoos want to find other zoos that they know they can be cool with, too. At least in my experience. Given that, if you're keeping your senses tuned to the little signs, and enough of them start stacking up, it's usually not too hard =p

I know that doesn't help much if you don't have any experience or if you don't have the capacity to go to cons (or aren't a furry), and I'm -not- suggesting you try and decipher the 'zoo code' if you're completely new, by any means!!! But I can honestly say I've met well over 100 zoos -very- naturally, effortlessly and casually like this... so... it is a thing. It works for me at least =p When you get some more experience, just try and keep your ears perked for the zoodar! ;-3

Well irl didn't work for me. Online, I think the most I met at other places like second life then...or even the furry community, where a few people turned out to be zoos. Was several years ago, nowadays Furries and other communities turned rather hostile regarding the topic *shrugs*

Yeah.. that's a good point. The Furcon scene changed a lot post-covid. It's mostly the 20-year-olds now, and they're definitely a... 'different' group. X.x

Yeah, plus today in society, you have to take a position and a opinion for everything and theres no neutral, if you not against something you are automatically for it. Social media also played a part. Today most people are provided with "facts" about zoos and the opinion you should have.

I’ve made a few here and other forums that have been friends for years, and yes with actual face to face meetings

As everyone else has said it's really tough.

20 years of being secretive about it and trying and failing to be lucky enough to meet anyone into it IRL is what led me to eventually creating an account here.

Hopefully more communities can pop up without being shut down, though that's unlikely :(
