Not Tech Savy - Please Help Us Understand

My wife and I are new to the site, obviously. We've been viewing as a guest for awhile and read alot of the security threads. We've got the encrypted email, ProtonVPN (not the free one) and are now using Firefox Focus. Still not 100% sure that we're using correctly/understand how all this works.

Here is my understanding as of now, please correct me if I'm wrong and/or add any changes/settings that are needed.

Phone/PC -> Proton -> Firefox -> ZV

We have the Proton icon at the top of the screen (phone) and the key. Also have the Firefox logo at the top.

Pretty sure it is enabled as FF isn't loading quite as fast as our last browser (assuming that is bc it is now going thru Proton.

There is a lot that goes into information security.
1. What is your threat model? Are you trying to protect your information from being seen by your ISP, someone else or the police?
2. Is bestiality illegal in your country?
3. What operating system are you using?
4. What phone OS are you using and how is your phone secured?
5. Do you trust that the VPN which is another money making company will stand up for you if you get into trouble? Do you trust their claims of not keeping logs which you have no way of verifying. And since you are using the paid version, they also have to keep your payment information.

1. It's more of a fail safe incase we get hacked.
2.Beastiality is illegal but viewing it is not.
3.OS on our PCs would be both windows and Apple
4. Android
5. All we can do is trust their word and the reviews. Proton is based in Switzerland which is big on privacy and not apart of 5/9/14 Eyes.

We're just wanting to know if we are using everything correctly.

Well you can test that, turn off vpn and if the browser still loads a page, you are not going through the vpn. You can also visit a "what is my ip" page from ff with and without proton. If the ip is different when using proton, it is configured correctly.
