Hi, I have been intrigued for a long time, and have finally decided to take a step towards moving forward. Does anybody have suggestions or guidance? Much appreciated

The question is kind of vague. I assume you mean how to move forward in zoo? Well first, what animals do you like and how much do you know about them? Think of what partner you both want, will love long-term, and can feasibly care for. Know the species in and out before you get them - do not go in blind! Whatever species, try to get an animal while they can still imprint on you, as that will allow for better trust bonds. Some animals will lock up to outsiders after a certain age. Aim for a reputable breeder / source that will let you see both parents of the animal and how they are kept. Ask for information regarding your specific partner, such as any conditions you may need to know about. Once you have a partner, remember that you need to dedicate a large amount of your life to them; this is not something to be taken lightly!
As a final word, try to treat your partner like they are a member of the family. :)

Wow, thank you for the insightful words. I will be looking for a dog.

I am interested in finding a K9 buddy in Vancouver Wa. Anybody able to help?
Personal ads section will be able to help you to realize what your real chances probably are.
A step forward would probably be getting your own dog. :D
