needing clarification

newbie here. i've got 15 messages. can i dm or pm now, and what are the differences?
also, are we able to ask for an email address to be more efficient at communicating with
whomever we dm/pm'd? don't want to get anybody pissed.

Once you get 10 post and get the statut "tourist" you can dm people, giving emails outside of dms is prohibed so you may do that only in private

thanks for the answer, i've got the 'tourist' now, what do you mean 'only in private'?
sorry for not knowing. also, is pm the same as dm?

You should have the access to DM/PM now. There is no difference, they are different terms for the same thing.

If you do not, try logging out and logging back in. The system updates permissions every 12 hours, so you might have to be patient.

Your questions can all be answered by going through the rules, the part about not giving out email addresses in the open forum etc. is in there. That is against the rules. You can share that info in private, (like in DM) but I would suggest doing so with only those you know well and trust.

I would advise anyone reading this to be extremely careful going off-site for anything.

i had a small stroke, and it affects my ability to comprehend some stuff.

Hover over any user you want to DM, or go to their profile, you should see a "start conversation" button. Near the "Follow" and "Ignore" buttons. Press that button, type your message, then press "start conversation" again at the bottom. Again, be carful who you share info like that with.

Some people do put warnings on their profile to not DM them or follow them so look out for that too.
