Hello friends!
An online friend has asked me for input regarding changes in behavior of her male German shorthair. They have been active for about 2 weeks, steadily increasing frequency. The chemistry has been very good, and they have both adapted steadily to their new routine. She has expressed concerns, however, about changes in the way he treats her outside the bedroom.
The dog was previously in the 'family dog' category. About 2 weeks ago it became much more - several days of close cuddling turning into a first knot, escalating to regular love making. About a week in, he began to become less responsive to commands - essentially ignoring any instructions from my friend. A few days later he began occasionally exhibiting more overt controlling behavior - pinning her down for 10-20 minutes after sex (she didn't struggle but a few low growls made his point clear). This has happened on three occasions. Twice, the result was for him to mount her again.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of escalation in behavior? Is this something to be concerned about? Can anyone recommend a course of action for her? She doesn't feel in any danger, but it is disruptive and she is worried it might get worse.
Thank you!
