Name for knots in other languages?

TeamZoo

Hey everyone, nice to meet you all and this is my first post!
I was curious what knots are called in other languages?
Is it all just some variation of the word "knot" or is there some other term in certain countries?
Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing your responses!

Welcome to the forum!

We call the knot, "nudo" in Spanish, which basically means the same (since we use it for a rope for example).

But for the verb 'to knot' and the conjugation 'knoting', we often use "abotonar" y "abotonamiento", which will translate to "button" (as verb) and "buttoning"

Thanks for responding! Lots of my favorite videos are in Spanish so it'll be great to know what word to listen for now:giggle:

Wanted to give this a bump. Would love to hear about thoughts/words on knots from non-Western/non-American cultures

Would love to hear the name for it in non-Western cultures like African, Asian, or an Indian dialect!
