My dog currently has a perianal hernia. Can I have sex with him, or should we stop until the hernia is fixed?

Basically the same on repeat. Health first sex later. He won't enjoy painful sex.
he is enjoying sex in the exact same way he did before developing a hernia. It is not affecting his enjoyment at all. The hernia is not causing pain.

Do what is best for his health. so wait
My question is wether having sex while having a hernia would be harmful to his health.

You have no idea what kind of damage you might be doing, unless you are a Vet with a medical-grade endoscopy probe....your desire doesnt trump the dog's health. More: Dogs evolved on their responses to humans; this is how they got to be dogs. They will do things for their humans that we wouldn't do for them. Example: the dog who lies on his owner's grave until starvation or dehydration forces him/ her away....Greyfriars' Bobby is the classic example, but there are artistic "memes" of such behavior going back to the ancient Greeks. Your dog could be hiding some distress. Hernias often require surgery....if your Vet said it does not then let it heal. Suppose it doesn't? What then? Let him be.

Dogs are really good at hiding pain, especially when it makes their owner happy. That's well known.

Very likely! There is already an opening, it could tear from the motion, become infected, or it could go way worse than that!

Arguing this hard to have sex with a dog that, medically, shouldn't, is not a good look btw.

I have brought him to the veterinarian. It is know for a fact that he is not feeling pain at all. She said that as soon as he experiences any pain caused by the hernia a emergency operation must be performed.

Pretty low chance that sex will make his hernia go away.
Let him heal.
the hernia will not heal. Hernias don't heal. It is only solved by a surgery, but a surgery would put his life in risk, so I was advised to perform the surgery only if he starts feeling pain.

I have not said that I we should have sex in any moment, I just cleared the misconceptions. My question is whether this would pose some risk to him or not, and I was expection to receive help that someone who has some experience as a veterinarian.

Hate to say this, but you shouldn't have NEEDED to ask the question
I don't get why I shouldn't? I am worried that perhaps we should stop having sex for now, so I came to seek some expert opinion on the issue. Perhaps I am worrying for nothing, or perhaps we really shouldn't have sex at all. I don't know for wether it's safe or not.

Your dog's welfare should be your first concern. If the hernia was yours,I suspect you'd have a different song to sing. In soprano....

Of fucking course my dog's welfare should be my first concern! Why on earth are you talking to me like this??? I just asked whether this would be harmful to have sex with him or not. I did not say that I was going to rape the shit out of him whether or not that would cause his damn hernia to explode.

Because this is a common sense thing. You're dog is not well, you don't have sex. Simple.

It's not a question that should be asked, because it shouldn't NEED to be asked. You don't see me here asking if it's ok to fuck my pregnant dog do you? No, because it's common sense.

No one accused you.....You just keep coming back with reasons why you SHOULD in the face of ten or so people telling you to let it be.....A little more anger on your part and the thread will end up in the DF.... You'll love it there..

Its your dog....no one here can stop you from doing what you want. Personally, I think your Vet humored you, if you came at her this way. Do what you wish....but if you dont want answers, don't ask questions.

You could just ask your vet, really. Ask him what kind of activities can he do? Long walks? He likes to catch frisbes out of mid air, can he do that still? Swimming? That would give you an idea of how vigorous of activity is allowed. If your dog is a purebred of AKA type quality, you could even just go all out and ask if he can breed without much funny looks.
The fix is surgery, plain and simple. Be warned, it looks as if they will push for castration at the same time. I don't see a problem with saying "no" to castration.
