Should a dogs mouth be cleaned before getting oral from it? I don’t want an infection. And if so what would be the way to go about cleaning it

Dog's teeth should be cleaned regardless of whether you have sex or not.
For sexual purposes it has other benefits like much more pleasant kissing.
But generally brushing improves your dog's health because their teeth can go bad which will cause pain and stress and infection.
Cleaning treats help very little, if they worked, we would be chewing them.
Mostly what they do is masking the smell.

I can confirm that brushing my dog every day has a significant effect on his breath.
