Mods, do you enjoy your role as moderator?

What are the pros and cons of moderating for zooville? What do you gain from it and what do you particularly hate?

What are the pros and cons of moderating for zooville?

You can delete stuff faster than reporting it and waiting for a mod to pick it up.
On the other hand, people have unreasonable expectations of what you are when you are a mod.
As a mod I am not obliged to stop being a dick when someone is a moron. I like having fun and that sometimes involves getting into arguments.
Often people have weird expectations about mods like that we are paid for it. Or that we never make mistakes. No, we are people sitting at home, doing this in our free time. Sometimes we are pissed off and react harshly and sometimes we are too soft.

What are the pros and cons of moderating for zooville?

In no particular order...

Pros:
1) I feel like I'm making a positive impact on this website, and this "community" if you can call it that.
2) You often receive a higher amount of base level respect due to the role and the little "Staff Member" badge. Unless you're pes... apparently. Lol
3) I and everyone else in the role kind of become the face of this community. With this, I can profess and educate others on what a healthy zoophilic relationship entails with our beloved animal partners. And with that people often seem to assume "Oh, he's a mod. He must know what he's talking about."
4) I, at least in a small part, can control how things are handled for moderator/moderated actions.

Cons:
1) You typically get to see the worst of the worst when it comes to porn and posts first hand. It was just about a month ago that someone posted a mutilated cat in the porn section. Poor thing had it's jaws broken and cut open, and if it wasn't already dead in the photo, it likely died shortly afterwards. And while that was an extreme example of zoosadism, I often have to sit through watching sketchy content as well.
2) It's work, sometimes a lot of work, like hours worth of work occasionally... and it's completely unpaid work at that.
3) As a mod you tend to see everything, including finding out information that makes you view sour towards people. "Oh, I can't believe X user got a warning strike for THAT months ago. I never thought they'd do something like that." You tend to see everyone's dirty laundry.

What do you gain from it...

The main thing is that in an ideal world everyone that takes on a zoophilic relationship with their animals would always put consent at the very forefront of everything when it comes to the sexual aspect of said relationship. Everyone would allow the animals in question to be the ones that decide whether or not they wish to pursue a sexual relationship from their own volition and without coercion. Everyone would love and respect their animals as not only their love partners, but also as individuals. But, obviously, this is not a perfect world in the slightest. While the job can get rough sometimes, who better to take on this role than someone like myself that actually has these values? Since this forum has pornographic content on it, I believe it is important that someone like me, with these values, be the one that actually judges said pornographic content. As far as I'm aware, everyone on the Staff Member team also shares these values as well.

What I have to gain from it has been listed in the pros portion of my post, but number 3 is definitely an important one. Believe it or not, I was once new to this form of relationship with animal love partners. I know, big shocker right? I can't say that I've always been perfect at everything, as I'm not a perfect person now. Nobody is. Like everyone else I've made my fair share of mistakes. But since I've lived through them (been there/done that), and since I love educating myself on the intricacies of this lifestyle, I believe it to be very important to employ harm reduction and to educate those that wish to seek knowledge of this lifestyle. And being a mod, a face of this community, I'm better able to do this.

Thanks, gang. I know firsthand that Modding is (generally) a thankless task. Some folks see and understand what it means to be on the digital front lines, as well as the tolls it can take (on so many levels). Much appreciated for the effort you put in, and the unmitigated river of crap you have to deal with. VERY much appreciated, no matter what.
