I am all about metal, also. Scandinavian black/death metal is excellent shit. Opeth, older Ulver, Soen, all get my blood going.

I also dig Strapping Young Lad, Meshuggah, and anything else in between. Metal makes the world go around.

The picture is of their singer, nicknamed Dead, shortly after he killed himself with a rifle. He was later found in this exact state by guitarist Euronimus (2 years later killed by Varg Vickernes) and drummer HellHammer. The two, before calling the police, had a photo session with Dead's bloody corpse.
So, all that nastiness in the picture is real.
