Mare Owners, I Have Questions.

If you have sex with a mare in heat, does that change or alleviate any negative symptoms or behaviours she displays while in season? Or does it have no effect or possibly exacerbate some?

I know from first hand experience how cranky or unruly some mares can get in season, but I have only conducted this experiment once. I've mostly had mares when they were in their anestrous period. However my first time with a mare was during her peak heat, and afterward she seemed to be calmer and more willing to work compared to before. I am wondering if any of you other mare owners have tried this and noticed a difference in behaviour before and after sex during heat?

Yes absolutely. I can say that the mares that were called "cunts" by normies that i handled and took in, were bored or had cribbing issues being kept away from the stallions.

Well it isnt always practical to keep stallions and mares together all the time. I found that sexually satisfying a mare definately put a calmer mood and made her less unruly and destructive.

The same goes with stallions, they need satisfactiom to be handled better.

I have seen horny mares go through fences and walls in search of a stallion. It's an individual thing but some have a spectacularly high libido. When such a mares finds satisfaction with a stallion at home, they have no need to wander. It's not all peaches and cream, though. She can be *very* persistent for several days a month. I had one that would announce her heat by jumping the fence and calling for me at my front door.

Handling stallions is an *extremely* complex subject. A stallion that has a mare and regular sex at home is *much* easier to get along with. That's why many breeding facilities will collect their stallions periodically. BUT, if you are his mare, you must have the physical and mental strength to maintain alpha status with him.

Thanks for your reply! I had thought as much, given my personal experience and common sense. I was always a bit dumbstruck when people would ask "What can be done about my poor mare in heat? She's normally so sweet but every two weeks she turns into a devil!" One obvious answer (to me, at least) was "Well, have you tried getting her laid? Or at least rub one out since she can't really so it herself?"

I'll have to experiment with this a bit more now that the heat season's just starting up. Who knows perhaps I can make a line of sex toys for mares and sell them instead of people trying to pump hormones in them??

I've never tried it but there is some research that indicates about 2/3 of mares will have a false pregnancy and stop cycling if a sterilized marble is placed in their uterus.

I have never had an ornery mare, I don't know if it's cause they never had a want for sex that never went unsatisfied.

Our studs are what we had a problem with. Except one: Hondo. He was my buddy.
Probly cause I used to let him out with the mares when I was young..just to watch.
He eventually learned to open his pen by himself... We had lots of colts/fillies haha.
My bad!

I spent so much time with my mares I was always trying to get them to learn new things. Like, playing with milk or oj containers I would hang without lids.

I had one mare that loved this rubber ball with a handle.. I would always see her beating the he'll out of our fences with it haha.

Like what has been said they all are different and have different personalities and sex drives.

I think as long as they are happy with the entertainment they have and their owners/handlers the only thing some mares need other than that is a good dicking from a human that can last longer than a stud.

Here as well I had the tales of grumpy mares, or mareish behaviour. One of the grooms at a yard where I used to work never wanted anything to do with mares in season because of their behaviour and their scent. I gladly took over the care duties for these mares. Anyway, maybe I have a higher tolerance level towards mareish behaviour, because my mare's behaviour - whether she is in season or not - doesn't bother me. The only thing I have to look out for is that some days in her cycle she just is not in the mood for saddling up. That's ok with me: with a bit of luck we do some other sort of riding :sneaky: Even in season she isn't very much in-your-face with it, but apparently she has soften her 'grumpiness' towards me. I think I know the reason why, but I don't intend to explain that to other people on the yard who acknowledge that my mare and me have 'some sort of mutual understanding'.

Yes, the mutual understanding brought about by an understanding of mammal biology and an intense sense of empathy.

There are already providers for adequate toys for this task to my awareness.

the mares that I had never went in anestro (I don't know whether to be happy or not) the one I had before when he was in heat made himself understood too much ... (and it wasn't nice when there were people), but those days it was absolutely divine, not that out of those days it wasn't, but in those it always went beyond, it always came to me even out of season, and out of cycle, but when I was able to go in those days .... I wouldn't know how describe it ... even chased his companions (geldings) if only they tried to get close to me.
she never liked my fingers, however, on the other hand, cuddles excited her a lot (sometimes too much), if I brushed her instead I calmed her.

this one that I have now instead in the height of the heat does not accept me (it moves or raises its paw ready to kick, it moves the tail), it still looks for me, it becomes more affectionate, but it doesn't want to know to be "ridden" ( ), on the other hand loves very much if I play with my fingers and hand, in that case it changes completely and lets you do (almost) anything until it is satisfied enough (more than once), after which you lay down and fall asleep, however, she remains extremely more relaxed on the following days, this in summer, in winter instead at times (difficult) she accepts me too, but only after she has had at least one orgasm.

I noticed my mare was more mellow after we mated than before we became mates. I’m assuming when I am back into the scene it will be a similar situation. I think they enjoy the mutual satisfaction that we both experience.

A large copper bead threaded onto a silk string, boiled in date wine, then pressed through the cervix with a finger, leaving the string hanging out into the vagina SEEMS, based on anecdotes, to be the "proper" method for dealing with both mares and camels that get "weird" when in heat. Leastwise, that's what I keep running into every time I encounter a new variation on the concept. Near as I've been able to trace it back, it seems to be an arab-developed thing. The other thing all the "reports" I've heard/read share is claims that it stops them cycling for about 2-3 months, then they start coming back in, but when they do, they're usually much easier to cope with, and the few that don't improve can be allowed to breed with whatever stallion happens to be handy, thereby satisfying them, but without needing to worry about pregnancy. I can't swear to it, or even find anything that actually comes right out and says so, but over the years, I've seen hints and snippets that seem to indicate this particular bit of "folklore" from arabian horse and camel breeders *MAY* have been the seed-idea that led to development of IUDs for humans.

So you are saying me that animals are made by nature to show sexual behaviour, because of their biology? Interesting, would be nice if more people on this planet would understand that, that suppressing their sexuality isnt supposed to work well.

This sounds very much like the modern veterinary method of glass balling which causes a simulated pregnancy
