Wild Horses are all over the West, from the Pacific east to the Missouri and Mississippi. In some places, such as Northern Nevada, there are huge numbers, where in others there are only a few.
The Pics I posted were on BLM land....the other pics are near a building and cars, so are clearly not on public property.
The Mustang will coexist with people as long as they arent molested, but they prefer not to. The BLM is at war with them, because the Mustangs dont balance the BLM's Budget. Cattle do. The Big Ranchers get a sweet deal on the public graze, and are not willing to share. Typically their attitude is"If it don't turn me a Dollar, it ain't worth a dime", and they cant turn a buck on horses.
In My area, If I dont see a hundred Mustangs in a day, its only because I'm not looking.
But they, and the Burros, are just as wild as Elk and Antelope. Approaching one with intentions is asking for a fatal "No", IF you get close enough, or corner one. A band Stallion LOVES that kind of heavy lifting, and he'll lift you right over the nearest tree.
