Where in North America are all the zoo folks?!

I think it would be pretty neat to create a rough heat-map of where folks generally reside. This is the best I can do with the tools readily available!

I won't do the poll, as I don't want to whittle down many states, but I'm in the US Rockies in a state with a lot of dinosaur fossils. Which pretty much would put me anywhere in the westernmost one to two-state band of the Mountain-Prairie and Southwest regions (I will say that I'm not in the Dakotas, Kansas, Nebraska, Idaho, etc)

Dang, the Eastern half of the USA looks like the place to be so far. I hope you all are having a good summer and making those social connections!
 
i am from the southeast, but just barely, in kentucky
it seems like the general trend is that there are more zoos in places where there are more people, which is about the distribution i would expect
