got these amazing knot toys off Amazon and have been training, getting close to being ready for the real thing, what else have you done to get good and trained?

A knotted toy has absolutely nothing to do with preparing for a real knot. That's not how a dog's knot works or how you should be taking it.

What would you suggest might I ask?

Inflatable plug. A dog knot does not go in engorged. Stretching your hole with a knotted toy will accomplish nothing but reducing your ability to actually knot.

True it's probably not conducive to real knots, but the knotted toys can be super pleasurable / give real intense anal orgasms
