Ok so just could be how im feeling but I think its a sentiment that might resonate with many others....
im curious to know how others feel...
This is directed mainly at Victorian zoos but its probably applicable to others.
I feel that more of us would be owners and content creators IF it the rental market wasnt so dire....
Available rentals in Vic are of extremely low supply currently which makes not only moving very tough
but also prevents me (and im sure others) at the moment from getting a dog,
and hence an inability to create some good content for all all the great folk here on ZV.
Renting in Victoria has always been a tough gig and with low interest rates and effects of covid its now even more so....
I guess maybe Im just having a rant but it sucks that even if you are a great tenant....
even if u have great rental history.....
even if u have a plan and the finances to move.....u just cant atm with the migration out of cities to regional areas and such.
Rent is as expensive as ever....and supply of available affordable properties to rent has never been less.
Like any driver of economics when Demand is high and Supply is low - youre gonna pay through the nose...
But it has been this way FAR TOO LONG and the rental crisis we have has been a slow burning bushfire for decades, largely ignored by Govt.
I had a friend I went to school with.....
She had 3 kids and a husband but was living in an emotionally and mentally abusive marriage.
She had to leave this situation understandably,
but without being able to get/afford a rental independently she soon found herself living out of her car in the bush.
Crisis centres are so overwhelmed they couldn't help her either.....
With bleak prospects and homeless, sadly a few weeks ago she took her own life.
Had she been able to attain a rental to get on her feet again im certain she would still be alive.
Her story is but one out of thousands of hard luck stories exacerbated by the extreme challenge of trying to find a suitable rental.
Id love a suitable rental to get my dog and have a little more room than the current 'shoebox' I love in......
When I can I will....but its a nightmare out there.
anyways im NOT Kent Brockman and thats my 3 cents.
