Is cereal a soup?

Asking the real questions.

The word "cereal" means that something is made from grain. How you serve it is irrelevant.

Would that make spaghetti a cereal?

Now that I think about it, it's cereal and milk. So no cereal would not be a soup, but I suppose you could say cereal and milk is a soup.

the real question is whatever you pour cereal or milk in the bowl first.

I've always found it messier to poor the milk first.

By culinary definition, absolutely not. A soup is defined as being made from a prepared broth or stock in the case of clear soups, or from a prepared sauce in the case of thick soups.

Pouring milk over dried grains isn't a prepared anything.

If a soup is a prepared broth or stock, theoretically one could prepare milk and heat that up, add cinnamon and nutmeg

Then pour over some dried grains and berries.

Or would that be a completely different experience all together?

Milk over Shreddies isnt soup I candidly agree, but with some extra prep steps, could it evolve then into a soup?
