Is Axcrypt a good option for file encryption?

I was wondering your opinion about this and which other software are recommended.

LUKS is overall the best or VeraCrypt if you are a Microshaft user.

I still use good ol' TrueCrypt. The second-to-last version, 7.1a, underwent a third-party code audit and no serious vulnerabilities were found, just some really trivial stuff. (The developers got hunted down by a government agency and shut down the project rather than get forced into releasing an insecure version; their final release was intentionally crippled as a way of stopping people from using it.)
