Interspecies sex in nature

Hello! This one's for all you ecology fans out there. We're examples of interspecies mating, but where else in nature does it occur?
I'll go first!
Fur seals have been known to target king penguins for mating, particularly on islands in the indian ocean.

Share your perverse animal factoids here!!

The goat mates with the sheep. Last time I saw a video where a deer mated with a donkey.

It is probably not the same zoophilia as between human and animal, but it is similar.

It’s amazing to me how a dog sees a human as a sexual partner. Makes me wonder what other animals would see us as sexual partners given the chance. Incredible and blows my mind.
There is a theory that suggests wolves were domesticate through sexual activity between archaic humans and early wolves. Forming a symbiotic relationship that expands past food acquisition. This would make sense given dogs desire to hump human legs, and the fact that some humans have sexual attraction to dogs and wolves, as well as preva folklore legends of wolf-men/werewolves.

That’s suppose to say prevailing. I don’t get why words get cut off.

Male donkeys are notorious for trying to have sex with about everything that moves. I've seen one having sex with a sheep, one having sex with a mini horse, one trying to mount a cow and one trying to mount a dog.

Horses having sex with cows and mares being mated by bulls is a rather common event when both species share the same pastures. Dogs mating with pigs, sheep and goats have been documented (photoes/video). Dogs mating with cats happens a lot. Male pet rabbits having sex with housecats happens, and there are documented cases of male rabbits mating with chickens

None of those examples are nature. Penning animals together in captivity creates drastically different behavior from nature. No wild horse is trying to mount a wolf.

Would you happen to have any scientific articles backing this claim?

None that I have on the top of my head. It’s so taboo, I’m not sure if it’s something that has been officially published in peer reviewed journals or just speculated by researchers who are afraid of publishing something that taboo. But I can see if I can find it. All I know is I have heard of the theory before.

My personal opinion is that it's highly unlikely that humans are the only animal species in which some members have an inter-species sexual attraction. There are quite a few types of hybridization between closely related species, sexual interactions between non-human animal species not closely related, and much anecdotal evidence of attempted mating between non-human animals and humans that were initiated by the non-human animal. It's a rare person who hasn't had a dog hump them for instance where dog ownership is common.

Depends on whether by "nature" you consider wildlife only, or captive/domesticated animals also count. Among livestock it could be almost a routine event, to the point that a farmer I knew brought up the topic without being prompted to. The casual tone implied that it's something "that simply happens" in the business.

We are animals, we are not in captivity for the most part, and we do it, therefore question answered, that was easy, off to lunch...

And before you say, We are not animals!, speak for yourself, my wife attests many nights in bed that I am in fact an animal, and I believe her, she only tells me the truth, you aren't calling her a liar are ya? Are ya? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

We aren't? Civilization is nothing short of mass captivity. "Be a good little caged animal and behave within the expected parameters or be kicked out of the tribe."
Some of those parameters are what enabled society to function to begin with. Others are designed to keep us in a cage. That's a nuanced conversation that would quickly derail this thread.
