Biggest challenge I've had so far is having time enough that I'm sure we won't get interrupted/caught.
As for health risk, allergic reaction I've seen mentioned a number of times, anal/vaginal laceration from when you get poked with the bone I've seen mentioned here as well.
And scratches/lacerations from the paws/claws I've experienced plenty of times.

Well, there aren't any real tricks. Each dog is different, and you will need to adjust to the dog. Sometimes using your hand to help hold him in works. As for health risks, generally, if your dog is clean and healthy, you will be fine. Some people are allergic to dog cum. So keep that in mind. Like do a small test, like get him hard and use a bit of cum to test, like rub it on your wrist to see if you get a reaction. Other risks are scratches, so that maybe an issue, but just keep his paws and your scratches clean. Other than that. Have fun, even when learning.
