My experience with Session is that it is easier to find contacts elsewhere and move conversation to the app. Overall, its better than Wickr, but not quite as good as Telegram in most areas - though Telegram is terrible for privacy settings.

I really like Session in theory, but I have yet to find anyone to chat with on it. I was a fan of Wickr until Amazon bought it and prompted me to find a new messaging client. I think what others have said is probably the best approach; move conversations to Sessions if the need for a good one-on-one exists.
