Just don't post anything identifying, and don't think with your dick instead of your head and go rushing into some rl meetup.
The police have better things to do than come busting down your door simply for being on a particular website. Just don't give them a pressing reason to come hunting you down.
The "real" danger comes from revealing too much that will allow OTHERS to identify and hound you to other online communities, or worse into real life to expose you as a zoo and ruin your life.

you'll be okay, as long as you don't post anything obviously identifying! i was paranoid about safety as well, but with time i think you'll slowly realize (as i did) that nobody is going to come knocking on your door unless you give them a really obvious reason to. so, hopefully you'll get more comfortable with this online because it's a pretty nice experience to mingle with people who understand

As dartel says think with the big head, not the little one. It's a great site but... you have to always be careful. No explicate photos or talk. Try to have fun but be aware.
