Well I have met some male dogs that are just as randy as a teen that hits puberty and will try to hump anything and will be more than willing to try anything with anyone wise enough to see what is going on. Some dogs are so driven you will have a difficult time getting them to be polite. I have had dogs come up to me pissing all over, air humping, with their penis hanging out. A bit awkward at the time because other folks where around as well. Even more awkward is the fact I am male. So you may be pleasantly surprised and he may just take the lead.
 
My Standard Poodle boy was around 10 or 11ish months when he started his horny antics. Every dog is different though so its hard to give an idea of when they might show interest but around 1 year sounds like a good rough approximation for the breed. The best advice I can give is get to know your dog and he'll let you know when. Just remember mounting behavior doesn't necessarily mean they want sex, especially with younger dogs. I had to set my boy straight a few times when he was a pup because he'd do it to try to assert dominance. Anyway, just to sum it all up probably around a year or so and the best thing you can do now is enjoy your time together and learn his body language and mannerisms.
 
So I'm sure it's just puppy behavior, and definitely am not pushing the issue as he's still pretty young (3 months old) but while playing with my pup I playfully was getting his belly area while he was standing up (grabbing his front and back legs etc). I grabbed his sheath area (again fast and hard play not really doing so intentionally) and he started humping fast and hard ?. Hope that's a positive sign for when he is a little bit older ??
