how long a post lasts depends on how interesting it is. for instance, this post that you made isn't interesting at all so it's going to die a quiet quick death after maybe 5 responses. it's just going to get buried underneath tens of thousands of other posts and forgotten forever. adios

It's a forum, no forum in the history internet has self destructing posts. The only reason a post or thread goes away is if a mod deletes it for stupidity or breach of rules.
