How does one find their companion?

Apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I’m curious as how to you “know” when you’ve found your one? (Canine specific) Sadly, I’m not in a place in my life for a few reasons where I can even begin to think about creating a life where a dog friend is involved but… obviously physical attraction is important but personality? What if they aren’t into you? I’m too much of an animal lover (pardon the pun) to return or rehome a dog because there wasn’t going to be intimacy in our relationship but then when I do find that one I would worry about bias and preferential treatment and such. Also as much as I love animals I can’t see myself having a house full of them, you know?

Just some bedtime musings I suppose.

Well, dogs are bought or rescued and you more or less get one chance. Unless I would have a serious reason, I would never give away my animal.
Lack of sexual interest would never be that reason.
There are tons of various sexual practices you can try. Licking, sex, oral, fingering, anal, kissing, rimming in various ways and combinations.
Even if your dog is not into one of them, they will likely be into at least some of them.
And if they are not into any of them, you can still love your dog as a friend.
