How did you learn they were into it?

This question is for those who were into it, and found out someone they were seeing was also into zoo.
What was the discussion, or whatever it was, that brought it up and let you know they were a zoo as well? My wife and I have recently started being poly, and if I could find someone who was a zoo as one of my partners I would love it so much. My wife is fully aware I am a zoo, and wants me to find that if I can. Just curious how to bring it up as more than a passing "joke."

I brought the subject up a couple different ways. Every once in a while there’d be a news story about someone getting caught having dog sex and I’d mention it to a friend or my partner to gauge their reaction. I’d also make a joke about the good thing about animal sex is they’ll never tell on you. Another joke a friend said was “Fuck me, fuck my dog”. I’d say this around certain people and watch their response. I’d also see if they knew what “knotting” was. If they got suspicious because I knew the term i'd refer to learning it as a kid working on an animal farm.
