Even before I realized I was a zoo I was heard about beastiality online like people generalizing girls using peanut butter to have their dogs lick them, and the amount of people who would speak about that made me realize what a common occurrence it really is. I feel like it’s more common than we think and people just don’t speak on it because it’s taboo. I think most people whether they admit it or not have had such taboo thoughts.

I assume you are referring to the actual act of engaging in sexually with a dog, whether it is licking or actual penetration from either party. In this case I believe that it is less common <5%.
Fantasies of bestiality may be much more common though, I guess maybe even more than 20% ?? This would include anyone who would be turnt on by watching a guy or a girl engage sexually with an animal.
 
I know from my own and talking to other girls a lot of us had an experience when we was younger i would say about as common it is to have a dog in the family, grand parents or your friends dog during a sleep over.

And some of us cant just keep that itch in our heads as a fantasy that might be in the 2% like mentioned.

As for the girls like me that is open and records movies.

So, between the few hookups I have had in my past via Grindr and the relationships which I have had, I have found that bestiality is actually exceptionally common. With females, they tend to openly admit having already had the interest in it. With males, they tend to share a opaque interest in the pornography, whilst not having partaken themselves.
It is my belief that: Most people find the idea arousing, but due to its extremely taboo nature, they are timid, if not afraid, to admit its desirability to them. But once I bring it up, it is typically agreed upon, sans a few particular haters who have their own niche, insecure opinion on it.
In terms of my own (monogamous, M+M) relationship that I am in now, I was at first very apprehensive to mention it at first....and was so pleasantly surprised to find out that he was into it, as well! He states that he first had it breach his mind once it was mention, although not partook in, by a Grindr hookup once. It grew from there...

So, my takeaway: Most people find it arousing, are afraid to mention it due to its taboo nature, but are more than willing to get off on the idea.
 
I've done a little research before and saw some people say that they spoke to their doctors, therapists etc. and said that bestiality was surprisingly 'more common than people think'. But I'm not sure personally if I'd agree with that, it's not common enough for me to talk or hint about it to others

No hard feelings; was just recounting my own personal experience.
I myself am incredibly shy...and I identify as a Demisexual, so I am not typically simply attracted to other people off of the cuff without that connection.
So, I usually walk the tightrope and devulge my niche sexual interest, and my experience is that... Extimated, 80% of people (that includes a few select females) appear very aroused by it.

I'd say that does distinguish two very different types of "Zoophiles."
I personally have a deeply rooted and personal desire to act out my fantasy with an animal. I would say it's very possible that the Canine owners who fetishize their pet with women are just a form of sex addict...there's a good probability of them experiencing of sensation of seeing the female in a "degretory" view, with no actually attraction to Doggo itself.... So just, very different forms.
 
I doubt your experience has any real relevance. "Acting out your fantasy" sounds like it hasnt happened yet. I agree with Leo Invictus Imp Aug, depending on whether we are talking about active (physical) or passive, e.g. (fantasies).
You also have to consider access to animals (city/village), in which country we are considering it, in each community it may be a different percentage of people. But I think up to 10% of each population are active zoophiles and up to 20% fantasy - who have not yet tried physical contact with an animal.
