We just got 2 (fixed) horses, one male the other female, I want to know the best way to bond with them so I can lower the risk of getting kicked and bit, what are y’all’s best tips?
Quite right, just spending time with them. Around them.
I don't have first hand experience, but I'd like to see if someone can verify my thinking,
If they spend a lot of time in a stable or barn, do lots of chores there, just be in the area. They'll learn that you are just, a part of their life, their "herd". And being the bringer of food helps, too.

Lots of attention and kindness will do wonders, only thing I can add that nobody else has mentioned is I very much doubt that the mare is "fixed" it's very uncommon and unnecessary, mares aren't that much of a issue when in heat ?
