Horse riding

Hey, everyone! I don’t post very often but I sort of wanted to say a short thing about what I’m doing this weekend: I’m going to ride a horse for the first time ?

Now, I’ve been sexually attracted to horses since I was around 16 (I’m now 26), but I’ve never had continuous contact with a horse besides 2 that I pet briefly. I guess the thing that’s going through my mind is that I’ve long fantasized about contact with these animals, but will now get to enjoy a 45 minute ride with one in a totally non-sexual way.

I’m really excited, and nervous. I’d love to be a horse owner someday, and I want to learn the basics of connecting with them in ways that non- zoos connect with them too. Maybe sometime when I have an appropriate relationship with my own horse, I’ll worry about the sex stuff ?

There’s not really a point to this post - but I was wondering about what it was like for other horse lovers to have their first full non-sexual experience with one, and how it went. I’m lowkey worried about being hard the whole time while I’m on him/her ?

Anyways, thanks for reading. I’ll be sure to fill everyone in about how it goes!

Step 1, take a folding chair and a book or device (whatever will distract you) and just go sit near some horses. Stay outside of the fence and watch them all you want.

Horses are super sensitive to mood and will read you like a book but won't necessarily understand why you have a given mood. So if you approach a horse while you are nervous for any reason, the horse will pick up on it and become nervous themself. Nervous horses do a thing called "spook" which can involve suddenly and without any warning at all being somewhere else.

Example spook:

In other words, get you mind *right* before you mess with a horse. Be calm and happy and so will the horse. The technical name is acclimatization and you both need it.

You’re off to a sensible start I recommend that to everyone who loves horses. I have thousands of miles of w
Riding under my belt before I realised my interest.

Thanks for the reply ? I’ll make sure I’m in the right mindset - I know how in tune they can be with humans who are riding them

Thanks ☺️ I really look forward to starting. I hope it’s the beginning of a long journey I’ll have with the equine species
