hi! which internet browser is recommended for browsing this site and viewing videos?

nvgrco

Lurker
is my first visit here, and just read a thread about videos "calling home" when viewed, so I'm a little worried because this is my first visit to this site and, oh well, I thought not having a standard email was enough. thank you in advance

I too would recommend TOR, as aside from being very private, it is also just a quality and functional browser in general. Even if it were not for the privacy aspect, it would still out perform anything Microsoft puts out.

But a word of warning, you specifically said you wanted a browser that is good for watching videos. I am sorry to say that TOR lacks a bit in functionality there. You may commonly get a message "No video with supported format and MIME type found" when you attempt to play large videos in the browser.

I use an old version of Firefox. I am able to download most videos by right-clicking the link and choosing "save as".

If you view a video while your computer is disconnected from the internet, it can't "phone home". Depending on your video player software, it might not be able to do that anyway. I don't know if the players built into web browsers allow it to happen; I never use them.

Something i forgot, you have opera also in mobiles
I use on my mobile with Android an Opera with VPN.
I don't know is it 100% safe, but virtual VPN is better then nothing.
Only for watching you can use everything. For adding an threads - better safer browser.

Phones are the best targets for spying on people: always with you, has a microphone, camera you probably don't cover, handles most of your non face to face conversations and can record the irl ones too, has a GPS, nowadays people even pay with smartphones. They also come with preinstalled OS, usually from a company which biggest source of income is selling user data, purposefully made to be hard to tinker with and glued backplate, which make it hard to remove the battery (although this is mostly because of trying to go thinner, not harder to modify). Just stick to PCs, really.
