Help With Training A Dog

Hi! Im a 24 yo F, who recently rescued a German Shepard boy! He’s around 2-4 years old, is in great health, and has all of his needed shots! I was in a relationship with a Golden Retriever, and sadly he passed away about a year ago. I finally brought myself to rescue this sweet boy. To my knowledge he has never mated with anybody, human or dog. So how would I go about getting him to go at it with me? I’ve tried a few things to get him aroused, like rubbing him, or sucking him (he didn’t really like that). I’ve opened my kegs for him, and he does sniff and lick a little, but never enough to really arouse him. My Golden was already pretty trained in that department, seeing as how I got him from another zoo. Now I was just wondering if any of you have any tips to help me! * DISCLAIMER* I will never force my dog to do anything he doesn’t want to do! I just want to try it, if at any point he stops showing interest I will stop! Thank you all! ❤️

No I didn't mean like that I just meant that most places that run rescues or adoptions lose or adoptions she it's mandatory that they do that that's all I meant by it that's all I meant by it I hope hes not
Oh lol, no he’s not fixed, I got him 2 days after he was out in there, and the animal shelter is a non killing, and doesn’t require dogs to be fixed!

Only for about 2 months!
Give him time then. With him being a rescue do you know what his life was like before you rescued him?

It takes time for some dogs to get past that. Maybe he doesn't understand what you are wanting or expecting from him.

Yes! I don’t think he was abused too much, the family who gave him up only did so because they couldn’t take care of him. He has no physical signs of trauma, and is a very friendly boy, who loves belly scratches, and playing with toys! I think the main problem is he just doesn’t understand! But he’ll get there one day, and even if he doesn’t, that perfectly fine!

Give him time, and if he doesn't "get it", nevermind! You still have a dog to love!

Maybe the shelter didn't, but do you know if he was fixed by the family who had him first? Neuticles® are a thing; just because it looks like he still has his testicles doesn't mean they haven't been replaced by silicone fakes.

Most private way to be reasonably certain would be to get a semen sample and stick it under a microscope, if you have one laying around. (I keep meaning to buy one; the USB-webcam-based ones are cheap.)
