Google is giving data to police based on search keywords, court docs show

Yep, just got this alert from the CNET app. Hopefully a legislature in some state will have the balls to pass a bill restricting keyword search requests and if it's effective other states will join in.

I really, really hope this doesn't include keywords related to zoophilia or bestiality, although knowing the current state of the world they very well could be. Just in case I always use DuckDuckGo when searching for stuff related to sensitive topics.

In any case this is unethical, far more so than the very practice of some of the things they could be reporting on. What a sick, backwards twisted world man.

Well it's like what they say, Google probably knows you better than your own mother. It's not just searches they can track you with, I'm pretty sure I've seen some zootube sites talking back to Google Analytics for their ad data. But when law enforcement start rounding up pedos en mass, I would start to worry zoos will be next, until then just don't make yourself an easy target and use all the tech available to make yourself anonymous online.

There is also not much to actually find about zoo except centuries old content and a few lame articles. So there is not much of a point in googling it. Just remember the few urls yourself.

Always use VPN and secure bowsers
Vpn does very little for protecting your privacy.
Please read these articles. You are merely shifting your trust to a different company which might also be lying to you.

i think the govt has enough to worry about besides zoo's... unless you get caught, then they could use google and such as well as your puter or phone for your browser history to show patterns
Likely don't search for terrorist, hate group, bomb making types of things.
Millions of people a day non zoo, also get curious and search for the type of things a lot of zoo's search for. Wonder what percentage think sick and never look again, bet more people end up looking for more.

I think you guys are being overly paranoid. I don't recall ever hearing about anyone being busted for zoo porn. People are occasionally arrested for the act, but not the porn. Law enforcement is looking for pedos and terrorists online, not us.

You can actually download all the data Google holds on you if you have an account and no surprise it's pretty invasive, obviously this only covers stuff while you're signed in on a PC or using an Android phone. But they record everything and anything, and looks like for the last 5 years.

You can do this my going to "Manage your Google Account" --> "Data & personalisation" --> "Download your data"

The folder named "My Activity" is the main one with search history, etc.

The way Google collects your infomation in rather creepy ways, it"s it such a suprise to us?

Google's (and other search engines) business model is based ENTIRELY on gathering and selling user data. I don't need to say more. Use DuckDuckGo.
There are claims that DuckDuckGo is powered by google and it does show eof result which is a google page when you reach the last result
