Why disgusting?

No, not at all.
I love my dog and I have always loved my dogs.
 
I don't see any reason why it should be disgusting, dogs are loyal, social and loving partners, and hygiene-wise they often take better care of themselves, than many humans.
My experience was possitive from the start, bit by bit going for more, and in no point I was embarrased or disgusted by what we did, quite opposite to that, it was always nice, comfortable, deeply felt.
