Dogs, Sex, Orgasms, Pleasure

Franny&Zooey

So, I've read a couple of different competing things about whether dogs have orgasms and derive pleasure from sex.

One researcher says this: "a) Dogs and cats are not like people when it comes to sex. They don’t cycle the same way and there’s no evidence, behaviorally or otherwise, that sexual activity brings them any specific pleasure akin to orgasm, for example."
Then another source says this: "Studies have shown that male dogs do experience pleasure during sexual activity. When male dogs reach ejaculation, they release hormones like dopamine, which is associated with pleasure and reward. This suggests that male dogs do experience some level of pleasure during sexual activity."

I have not yet experienced sex with a dog; but I really really want to. So I don't have a personal basis to weigh in on the question. For those of you been lucky enough to have the experience, what is your conclusion based on your own experiences? I think I would find those to be much more convincing than the studies of researchers who haven't actually engaged in sex with canines.

Both males and females experience pleasure and emotion when treated as lovers. Just like people, there are quickies where everyone goes their own way after and no to little emotion is experienced.
But there is also those times when we spend the evening playing, flirting, building the sexual energy. Those are the nights that everyone enjoys themselves intensely.

As I posted to start, I don't have the personal experience; but then I bet the scientists and researchers who come up with these conclusions also for the most part lack personal experience. So many scientific conclusions seem to fly in the face of actual experience or common sense, or both.

From films, it seems males, at least, are eager for sex; certainly eager to fuck. Why would they be eager if it didn't feel good???!

The second quote, which suggests males do feel pleasure, bases it on substance measurements. That, to me, is corroboration of what seems obvious.

you don't need to have sex with one to conclude they do feel pleasure. a handjob and check if he asks for it again is enough. not to mention that many animals (mostly mammals) also masturbate, guess why.

watch literally any non-commercial zoo porn if you want evidence.
Yeah. Seems like common sense. You can see with your own eyes. Scientists can be blind to common sense, it seems

Yeah, my dogs love to cuddle and be petted. They clearly like it and it feels good. Why wouldn't the same be true of sex??

From my POV and experience I would say yes they do experience pleasure during sex very much like human beings and other mammals, of course only if it goes the way they like/want it.

Lol. Good point: there are good fucks and not so good fucks, and downright bad sexual encounters; same spectrum for hand jobs, blow jobs, etc.

Either it feels really good for them, as they want to do it again and again.
Or they really like to feel "in power". But domination/submission is kind of a human thing. So I am going to stick with that it feels really nice for them.

Well, domination and power can be turn-ons and, I think, feel good in and of themselves. So when you couple feelings of domination and power with the physical stimulation, it seems you have pleasure caused by two virtually inseparable components.

The idea put out by some so called behaviorists that animals have sex for some reason other than pleasure is among the most mind blowingly stupid concepts ever originated. I barely know where to begin.
Are we supposed to believe that whereas humans have sex because it feels good, animals do so through the rational, thought out intention to perpetuate the species?
Sex is an instinct, satisfying instincts feels good, that's why we eat when we are hungry, drink when we are thirsty, play when we need to learn and get exercise etc etc. Animal brains and human brains have the same reward systems, we do things because our reward systems tell us to. Evolution tells our reward systems what behaviors to reward.
One thing I personally question however, is how sex out of season can be pleasurable for those female animals which have evolved to only seek out sex during brief periods when they are in season.
Humans are unusual in that our females are generally sexually receptive on most any day of their cycle. Most other animals differ in this regard. It is thought that the constant sexual receptivity of human females has co-evolved with and helped to drive pair bonding among a highly social species.

Remember the days when the old generations preached that animals dont have feelings and werent intelligent. This was all in a sadistic attempt to mistreat and control animals. This practice still exists today. Anyone who has owned an animal no matter the breed will tell you that animals do have feelings and are highly intelligent in their own ways. Animals actions have always spoken louder than words. How come animals can understand what we say yet after centuries of being in their company we cant fully understand them and what they say. Who is more superior. Them or us. If actions speak louder than words then one would only have to look at a dogs face to see if they are enjoying themselves during sex. Same is said for their eyes. They make stupid looking faces during sex just like us and they try their hardest to satisfy themselves as well as us. Dogs know when a woman orgasms and he will continue to please her until he has nothing more to give or exhausted himself first. Which ever comes first. A man who has sex with his bitch will experience the same kind of devotion. Thats if he is patient and doesnt force or mistreat her in the process. All mammals can feel and sense its partners emotions and body movements. To think that one is lesser than another is very narrow minded. Off course dogs orgasm in their own way and yes they do derive pleasure from mating with their partner. To think otherwise is very narrow minded. This is my thought for the day and my small bit of input into this subject. .

No matter what species we are. There is always some form of domination and control during sex. No matter what sexual position we use its all about domination. Even in a lesbian relation there is always the more dominant female. Same goes for gay men. So why would animals be any different to us. I would like someone to prove me wrong.

You wrote: "Sex is an instinct, satisfying instincts feels good." Very Nietzschean, and I agree completely.
And you raise a good point on the "in season" concept. Which kind of dovetails with a general impression I have had just for my own personal standpoint: I'm more comfortable with the idea of have sex with a male dog, specifically bottoming for him, than with fucking a female because of my fear that in the latter situation you could be acting against her will. Whereas if a male didn't want to fuck, he wouldn't, right?

And I would argue that even the submissive partner exercises a form of dominance. Maybe if I use the terms active and passive instead it would better illustrate my point. When it comes to gay sex (I almost never have sex with women anymore) I'm much more comfortable in the active role and someone being passive or submissive is a bonus or added turn on; but they act of my partner or hookup being passive, of submitting to me, is arousing; so in that sense the willingly passive participant is exercising significant influence on the arousal Factor. Not sure if I'm being as clear as a better writer might be.

For some reason, however, I really have an overwhelmingly powerful urge to submit to a male dog. I did go through a period of a couple of years where I experimented with bottoming and BDSM. I found that in the final analysis it didn't really do it for me so I reverted to my traditional top/dominant role. But I recognize that even in a scene where I am the active or dominant partner there is a reliance on the passivity of the other partner which in a sense balances the dominant / submissive scale

I guess maybe what I'm saying is that even the passive/submissive partner exercises power in a relationship in which dominance is an arousal Factor for the active/dominant partner.

If we date back in time in the human race. Sex has never been as prevalent as what it is now. I personally think it has been more socially driven by media, advertising and now social media. It is very much everywhere we look. We cant avoid it. Its around every corner. In the animal kingdom they arent exposed to this kind of indoctrination and brain washing as what we are. We have been made to believe that the human species is receptive to sexual intercourse all the time. Predominantly its about commercialism and corporate profits. If women were so naturally sexually driven then why do women call out rape or sexual harassment. A small minority of women may be extremely sexually driven 24/7 due to hormone imbalances or the like but the majority arent and I personally know of many many women who arent receptive to sexual interactions all year round. I know this will be contested by some and others will agree with me. I guess its the state of mind that we are in at a certain given point in time as to how we perceive this. Its like a woman saying that men only think with their dicks. Most men dont and as per females most me choose who they will have sex with and who they wont go near. Animals in general behave in the same way. They are just as fussy as we are as to who they have sex with. If we judge animals by our standards and laws then yes as per the human race some animals would be tried for rape and sexual harassment. Dont figure.

And the submissive partner enjoys it just as much as the dominant partner. Ying and Yang.

Yeah. I'm sure I'm right at least in terms of human sex but, when it comes to human / canine sex, I'm no better than the scientists I criticized in my opening post: I'm theorizing without any experience. But I'm trying mightily to obtain that experience! LOL

Well, my feelings about wanting to have sex with a male dog rather than a female dog tracks on some of what you're saying: my experience with humans is that men are much more actively sexually driven in a way that is far less discriminating than women are. Yes, there are exceptions to this. I'm generalizing in that always leaves one open to some withering criticism. My mindset runs that way, how ever which is why from an ethical standpoint I feel more comfortable getting down on all fours to receive for a male dog because it gives me some assurance that he wants to engage in that activity. If he didn't, he wouldn't enter. I don't have that same assurance from my admittedly only secondhand impressions of a female dog's conduct (from porn etc) but that's again based on my human experience. Maybe some of you men who fuck female dogs can weigh in on the signals they send to indicate their approval.

Female dogs also have orgasms outside of heat.
I can't say if it's as strong as a human orgasm, and if it's as strong a desire for sex as a human, but it's clearly a pleasant and positive activity that they experience. Sometimes you feel like it, sometimes you don't, and this is clearly indicated.

They snuggle up to me and lie on their backs, spread their legs and wait for me to stroke their bellies and cookies. If I don't, she claws my hand with her foot. If I start caressing and gently rubbing the cookie, their body relaxes and they feel visibly good. The same goes for sex.

Unfortunately, scientists are also bound by society and religion, so they will naturally be inclined to believe that animals do not have orgasms.

I believe that animals rarely or weakly experience orgasm during mating, rather they do it out of instinct, but when they start having sex with humans, after a while they learn and their brains switch over that "reproduction" is already a pleasure and they experience stronger orgasms. Reproduction transforms into sex, this is what zoophilia means to animals.
I think humans are the ones who teach animals how to develop orgasms, with zoophilia.

e.g. Much the same as when a woman is unable to orgasm or rarely orgasms with a certain man. But with another man she has a perfect orgasm and sex. The animals together exemplify the first man, while the animal and human exemplify the case of the second man.

If there was no pleasure that comes from sex in dogs none of them would do it. There isn’t anything that would drive them other than that feeling. Considering they are stuck for the better half of an hour. In the wild that’s risky, potentially fatal. Biological or not you need a potential reward for the risk.

Hell, read some of this "published" shit about how nuetered dogs are the fucking casanovas of the animal kingdom. Whoever these clowns are who write this shit, I'd lay money they spend their free time whacking off to pokemon shit.

If I was you, I'd take any and ALL "published" animal sexual papers with a HUGE, planet sized grain of salt. I mean, how much "research" can you do with the $500 go fund me "grant" you got by whoring yourself on tictok?

That's a pretty fascinating concept. But when you really think about it it's not outlandish at all: sensibilities can be learned. I hadn't thought about it this way before. It's a beautiful defense of the lifestyle, the intersection...

I'm pretty sure that they enjoy sex. But how do they experience it exactly? how do dogs or pigs experience ejaculation for example? Is it an orgasm like in humans?
