I have a "friend" who wears a dog collar during sex. It's loose so I can get my hand in between the collar and the neck. BUT, for her, it's about how she can be "controlled". So, I guess it's more practical than symbolic, but it has a bit of a symbolic effect as well.

The collar arrived (pink leather) and included a custom pet tag. "Mommy"
It was very stiff so we soaked in leather softner but the pink came off/loose within a week.

It was very nice for the 4-5 days I wore it.

I think we will be going to a pet store to hand pick a new one. I will have to resist asking "Do you have a changing room"

Good veg-tanned leather will be tough in the beginning, don't soak it. Apply some leather conditioner and wear it often, it'll break in and last a very long time.

Quick update.
The first collar kind of fell apart because I cut the end off, which caused the stiching to undo.
We went to pet store and I picked out a new one, which was fun. I love wearing it.
