Do male rabbits experience sexual pleasure?

Genuine question. I know this is a hotly debated topic both in and out of the zoo community. Obviously they experience some kind of physical response, but does anyone know if they are capable of experiencing a true orgasm? I’m asking this because I’m curious if my male rabbit is actually having a good time when I help him get off.

For context, I received him about 3 years ago and he’s well into sexual maturity. There’s no reason for me to neuter him because he’s very healthy and does not have behavioral problems. He does get horny though, of course, so I gave him a sex toy to enjoy while I do chores so he isn’t chasing my feet the entire time. The “sex toy” is just a stuffed rabbit his size; I’ve tried rigging up a fleshlight to it and I experimented a lot with this, but nothing gets him off quite like my hand does. This has become a bonding experience for us, so I’d love to know if he’s truly feeling the pleasure he looks like he’s feeling (grunting and passing out for a few seconds, twitching and getting the zoomies after—I’d be surprised if he WASN’T having crazy orgasms!)

(I tried to get footage of this today, but seemed my phone made him nervous and he couldn’t perform . If anyone is interested, I will try again to get a bunny orgasm video in the future.)

How would you even measure it?
Sex being pleasurable seems to be one of the main motivation why animals do it though.
Especially since lots of animals can find out how to masturbate an they will then do it. Why would they be doing it, if it was not fun for them?

Don't know! That definitely makes sense, I just wish there was a quantifiable way to measure it, I guess that's why I'm asking, just in case there's some method I don't know of. Like, if their brains even have the capacity to experience sexual pleasure. I know there have been official studies with female rats and cows proving they can have some kind of orgasm.

It's safe to assume that all animals with a healthy central nervous system experience pleasure during orgasm. There have been studies with various animals including mice, where the hormonal output during copulation has been measured and they all get a good dose of chemical happiness when they're climaxing.

Most animal species, even those without hands, are known to masturbate in their own way (if they are intact and can get horny) and they also love to do it regularly. There is a varity of reasons. Some animals do it out of boredom, not all sexual acts start by being horny. Some animals (such as some male squirrels) have been caught masturbating after successfully mating, there have been theories as to why they do it, with the leading one, that they might want to get rid of their old sperm and just try to clear the pipes before mating some more. But animals, just as humans, can get horny. And they certainly feel as relieved as people do, when they finally shot their load. In the end, if your rabbit humps you on his own, he may want to dominate you (or your hand), but he might also look for potential relief, which you can provide. If he successfully shoots his load he will perform his ejaculatory leap, which means that he jumps and falls over at his climax. You can be certain that he would have enjoyed the experience. He would have to be severely impaired if he hadn't.

If his orgasm is comparable to yours however is a different question. You have a different anatomy, your brain is structured differently, your body operates differently. His orgasms might feel different to him as your orgasms feel to you. But rest assured, they feel good to him, no matter the circumstances. So being there for him is certainly doing him a favor.

If you want to do something good for him, provide him with something warm and moist to thrust into. Your hand certainly is preferable to him than most cold toys, the warmth might help getting him off.

As for filming him:

If you would be able to record his climax, by all means, do so.

Rabbit footage is already as rare as it is. Male rabbit footage even more so. And I guess, the zoo community hasn't even one video with a good rabbit cumshot. If you could show us his equipment, his balls and erect penis and provide us with an even moderate cumshot, I'd be eternally grateful for that. Of course, no pressure. The comfort of your little pal comes first. But if you could film it, it would be much appreciated. Maybe you could put the phone flat on the desk and let him hump above the camera, while recording? Feel free to experiment, I'm certain that no matter what kind of footage you can produce and provide would be very welcome in any case.
