Did you grow up around animals, and how has it affected you?

I wonder, to what extent did fond memories (or - perhaps - not so fond) from your childhood affect your relationship with animals today, socially and sexually?
No accounts of childhood sexual experiences, please. That's not what I am here for.
But for myself, I can say that I grew up fearing the neighborhood dogs, due to their uncaring owners. Later we moved in next to a farm where I met the cows and piggies. Must admit I feared those big animals though.
As I became interested in sex, it somehow came natural to me to want sex with animals. Only a few years back did I let go of my acquired phobia of dogs, even if all my life I've wanted to see them mate with women. And for some reason, I am very turned on by the thought of pigs and cows, coincidentally also the animals I met at the farm back then.
Any thoughts and experiences?

Up until age 13, I grew up around cats. Having to clean the cat boxes when we had 3 cats grossed me out. Never really got attached to cats.

When we got dogs, my whole world changed. We had wonderful, platonic relationships. I'm sure I'm a better person for it. Have never been without a dog since.

Unfortunately I never grew up around dogs....my family just weren't dog people....had cats growing up though.... however when I would visit a family member who did have a dog...or go to a friend's house with a dog... immediately I'd bond with the dog and spend a big chunk of time with them....it even go to the point where some dogs would follow me around and listen to me more than their own owners......it really made me feel good.

I knew something was different with dogs...I just felt right around them....so I started working at an animal shelter...this wasn't until I was 15 though and it's there I met my first love....a yellow lab. From that moment on I tried making any attempt to make sure dogs were always in my life in some way shape or form

Before I could even speak I was fond of horses. I used to sneak out of my crib at night and make my way down to the rocking horse-- sometimes mom would find me in the morning fast asleep on my plastic steed.

Grandpa also had a golden retriever I loved (platonically) and I recently found a pict of my two-year old self hugging that big floof. Guess I was always wired to relate to animals more than people!

This is an interesting thread. Lots of varied responses. Although I do agree with what's been said a couple times now. Alot of us seem to be born with a natural connection to animals that progresses into a more intimate connection around puberty (sometimes later on in life, there is exceptions) For most zoos It is an orientation whether society wants to accept that or not. Doesn't matter. Doesn't change that reality just because someone doubts our very identity and personal experiences ?

I've always had dogs and cats growing up. For a while, we had chickens to get fresh eggs. I've always had a certain affinity towards animals. Not sure when that translated into something more.

Had this big belgium shepherd growing up i was curious about him as a kid and thats how i discovered that side of myself, i had a lot of fun with him when i was a teen.

Grew up on a farm in East TX. Had a normal, conservative, redneck upbringing. Had good grades in school and worked hard to maintain the land when I got home. We had plenty of dogs and goats over the years, so I pretty much had free rein to indulge in my sexuality from the get go, and after a long days work being all sweaty and grimy, who wouldn’t relieve themselves of some stress? No childhood trauma here, just always knew I was into it.

Had a rough childhood and spent a lot more time with the farm animals and pets in rural GA than with other people. I think I just naturally learned to trust animals more than people. Don't think there's anything wrong with discovering it in either direction, same with other sexualities. Sometimes it just happens, sometimes it's after an event, stuff like that.

:gsd_happysmile: Any way just means you end up in a common place like here!

I was always the drunk guy that found the dog at the party, it was never sexual I just loved playing with them. The rest of my immediate family and friends always had them so they were around but I never had one until got my own house.

Always loved animals in general , growing up spent most of the year (early march til late november) at my grandparrents farm. Got used to dogs horses cows etc. Dogs on the other hand i always connected more deply , someone said here that he would have a greater influence on someone elses dog then the owner , thats me , any dog who knows me , knows i am the one to get played with patter cuddled , nothing sexual , it got to the point when i was staying at my cousins villa for like 6 months taking care of there dog while they were on holiday there dog who barks whenever anyone comes home owner included , well he wouldnt bark for me , they actually noticed and were kind of gelous which was funny.
The sexual thing was so natural when it happened with our own dog , cant even call it a kink or something out of the ordinary , i guess its like that for a lot of us.
But i could never imagine using animals as live dildos as some do , have a deep hatred for any kind of animal abuse.

Not only did my family always have cats and dogs but I grew up in a farming area, though my family didn't have a farm. My love for animals has always been intense and during my formative years probably obsessive. Granted I didn't experience anything close to romantic or sexual attraction to animals until adulthood. Caring for animals as I did from an early age helped me be more empathetic, gentler, and appreciative of the smaller things in life. Just watching the joy an animal can find in the smallest, purest things always filled me with awe, and I still consider it a lesson I carry close to heart. Cherish every moment, live in the now.

Agreed. It's much more wholesome and erotic tbh to just play with them, but let them have their way with you accordingly. Man I bet you have wonderful stories to tell about that farm, and the animals you genuinely loved.

I was brought up with dog breeding and horses being ridden.
Mucking out and looking after after animals, i think is why i dont find animal piss and shit repulsive.
If i didnt see any dog breeding i am unsure is i would of ever fucked the family bitch as a teen.
Being brought up with animals had a positive impact on my upbringing.
