Did they fuck?

So, heres the deal. I have an intact male dog, and he has been trying to jump and mount people from six months old or so. We've always just told him no and pushed him down, but he still does it occasionally if he gets excited. Usually hes a very calm dog at home, just sleeps and growls at squirrels outside.

Well, sometime ago i noticed a chance. He was not eating normally and whining a lot indoors, yet when i took him outside he wanted to go back home after just a few minutes. Odd, but i just figured theres a female dog in heat somewhere in the neighbourhood and thought nothing of it.

This has been going on for weeks now, which is not normal. Clearly the dog is going through something. Wife never complained about the whining, but always piled on when i mentioned it. One time i said he must have smelled a bitch in heat somewhere and she said casually "yeah or maybe the bitch is me" which was odd too.

Last weekend my wife was out with our friends and came home slightly drunk, and the dog went wild. Whining, jumping, smelling her crotch and he also got a boner. Like full on boner. Took a good few minutes for him to calm down. Being zoo of course i thought that something maybe happening earlier, but never seriously until that drunken homecoming happened. Wife acted like nothing was wrong, like i mentioned our dog has been like that for long but never so visible excited. Did they fuck?

If anyone can tell how their dogs behaviour changed after they got their rocks off for the first time would be appreciated. Honestly hoping they did do something, but kind of dreading the conversation so asking here first to get some sense of what might be going on.

Dogs mount and hump, that's not unusual behavior, especially for an immature puppy. Any behavior change like that would have me take him to the vet to rule out any potential medical problems first. Dogs can also get super excited when they are reunited with their favorite people. That includes 'boners' which are not infrequent with intact males. Smelling crotches is what dogs do as well. It's smelly.

You're either reading way into something that may not be there or you're just hornyposting. There is no way to tell if they're 'doing it' unless you catch them in the act or she admits to it.

Not a puppy anymore, almost 4yo. But thanks for the answer, that might be the case. For sure gets me horny thinking about it.

BUT the excitement was way different than before. He is usually happy when either of us come home, doing a little dance and bringing his toys etc but never like that. The mounting only usually happened like max few times a year and first had to engage with the dog, like playing etc. This is new behaviour for sure.
