Yes.
There is a delete button on the left bottom. Mods and admins see deleted stuff though.

You can also only delete you own comments unless you are a mod.

There are three little dots next to the Report button. Hit that, and it brings up an "edit" and under that a "delete" button.

No. OP is possibly right.

Myself, I have the "edit" option below, but after a time (1 hour? 1 day??) it just goes away and the post is locked.

This is a matter if privileges, so it is quite possible it is disabled for "tourist" while enabled to "citizens"

@FloofyNewfie : I guess it is a feature, not a group configuration error ?

I believe you get 24 hours to edit/delete a post on a thread. Otherwise you'll have to report it to have it edited/deleted. That is, unless you are a Zooville Settler or higher (150 posts), then you should be able to edit/delete your comments for an indefinite amount of time. This change was made due to the infamous troll known as Nothing. He'd post a bunch of "normal" posts and then later edit them to either dox people, or show gore such as mutilated animals, dead people, or mutilated people.

Threads which you've started can only be deleted by a mod/admin.

Will reporting my own comment to get it deleted give my account a strike or something?

Well, *even* if you delete it yourself while no one is looking, it, many times -depending on your settings- leaves some "previous versions" viewable to people with the right attributes ?

Yep. Think it was godhorse, who posted a link to a pedo simpsons comic. I reported it and also replied to it that he oute to remove that before the mods see the report and maybe they'd be leinient if he did. He did, but they were not. Banned.

Edits do not effect reports, it will still show up as it did at the time of the report. Same goes for edited or deleted comments, edits are saved by the system for a while and deleted ones are still available for review.

I know. That's what I said, the edit did not save him from the report on the original.

You can report your own comment, if it doesn't break the rules, there's no problem. Above 150 comments, your editing and deletion time is infinite, below only 2 hours.

The moderators can see the deleted comments and see the editing history, as in the case of Facebook, e.g.

Yep.
I'd bet that if self reported there ought to be some leinientcy about it, as the user has seen it was wrong.
But sure, if wrong enough, the lessened penalty will still be banning him twice instead three times at once and with intense pain ?
