Dealing with "humane" societies

ryirkil

Citizen of Zooville
There are a lot of cases mentioned, where people have their pets taken away and win in the court only to hear they have been killed.

At the same time, there are organizations made to sue ATF and others for violating second amendment.

So, why don't we do the same with this? I'm very reluctant to spend money in general but those absurd, horrific stories make me gradually develop PTSD, I think it would be well spent here. We have to show them the consequences, that's the most effective way to make them think twice. And if it's all legal, we can lobby for changing the law. Sure, it's impossible for us alone, since humane societies will lobby against, but it affects all pet owners. A good campaign will not only increase the raised capital but also decrease theirs.

So, do you know any already existing organizations to donate to?

[EDIT] This also applies to suing officers for killing animals during raids.

Sadly, I do not know of any organizations that actually care about animals like they purport to.
Every place that claims that they care about animal wellbeing, such as PETA, participates in behaviors that a zoophile may find zoosadistic. They do not respect animals, but merely see them as "furbabies" that need cottling. As a slap in the face, PETA and its cohorts are rabidly trying to carry on the work of Randy Pepe in the legal realm.

Since there are no organizations that fit the description we need, one would have to be created - this of course is no small task. Do we even have enough people that would be willing to speak up and actually put out the public expenses and effort required to make an organization like this? I, sadly, do not think so. Respect for animals, as far as zoos know it, is very uncommon in the world, and is even less common among people that want to express it publicly. I am all for giving it a try, but first we need to count the cost. And I am not just referring to monetary cost - what would come if we fail? Zoos, and people who care for animals in general (since the public seems to conflate all animal rights activistm into one indistinguishable mass), would be put at a huge disadvantage if a project like this fails. It would be known to the public as "another failure of them damned PETA-people" (much to our dismay, as any zoo would want to displace themself from that cult).

The castration, declawing, artificial breeding, and euthanization dungeons will keep their nightmarish hellscapes populated indefinitely, as far as I see. And we will have to bear the burden of knowing this - such is a curse of being zoo.

Just to clarify, in case you misunderstood: I'm not talking about some animal rights organization like "PETA but actually doing what it is supposed to". I'm talking about an organization that would look on their hands and slap a lawsuit when they put animals in danger for no reason.

How much support would you estimate exists for this cause?
